Special Assembly Celebrating Makar Sankranti and Lohri

A special Hindi assembly was conducted at Rajaram Mohan Roy Academy on 13 January 2022 on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and Lohri by the Hindi Department. Students from classes VIII to IX and XI actively participated in the programme. The assembly began with an explanation of the significance of Makar Sankranti as a harvest festival marking the Sun’s transition into Capricorn, which was followed by various cultural dance performances depicting how the festival is celebrated in different parts of India, including both northern and southern regions. The importance of the Lohri festival, symbolising the end of winter and the spirit of joy and prosperity, was also highlighted through a traditional dance performance. The assembly concluded with a few inspiring words by the Principal, appreciating the efforts of the students and teachers and emphasising the value of India’s cultural heritage.
