On 26 May 2026, a highly enriching workshop on Critical Thinking was conducted for the teachers of Raja Rammohan Roy Academy by Mrs Indrani Lahiri, a renowned educationist. The session aimed at helping educators understand the importance of developing analytical and reflective thinking skills among students and incorporating them effectively in classroom teaching.
Mrs Lahiri, explained the concept of critical thinking through engaging presentations, practical examples, and interactive discussions. She elaborated on Bloom’s Taxonomy and highlighted the progression from remembering and understanding to analysing, evaluating, and creating. She emphasised that questioning plays a vital role in learning and encouraged teachers to guide students towards independent thinking rather than merely providing answers.
The workshop included activities based on reasoning, logic, identifying facts and opinions, evaluating information, and solving real-life problems. Various classroom strategies such as brainstorming, collaboration, role play, graphic organisers, and problem-solving exercises were discussed in detail. Through thought-provoking examples and interactive tasks, the session encouraged teachers to make critical thinking an integral part of classroom culture.
Quotations by great thinkers like Gautam Buddha and Socrates added depth to the session and reinforced the importance of encouraging curiosity and inquiry in education. The workshop proved to be highly informative and inspiring, leaving the participants motivated to adopt innovative and thoughtful teaching practices in their classrooms.
